The Story Behind the Wooden Bow Tie: A Journey from Inspiration to Creation

When I first saw a wooden bow tie, I was fresh out of college, attending a design competition where my team and I had just won for our retail space design for Puma. The event was a pivotal one, with other winning designs representing major brands like Nike and Levi’s. As we all gathered at the retail design conference, I remember catching sight of a wooden bow tie for the first time. Its unique look and charm made it unforgettable—a small accessory that spoke volumes and sparked conversation.

Fast forward a few years, and the memory of that wooden bow tie had firmly rooted itself in my mind. Then came the wedding of a close friend, who had asked me to be one of his groomsmen. I knew right then that I wanted to make something special, not only for him but also for myself and the other eight groomsmen who would be standing beside him. The wooden bow tie felt like the perfect choice—a unique, memorable, and heartfelt accessory that would make a lasting impression.

So I got to work. Drawing inspiration from Pinterest and other sources, I decided to create floral designs that would be engraved onto each bow tie. Flowers seemed like the perfect theme—not only are they classic and elegant, but each bloom has its own personality and meaning, just like each of the groomsmen. With my background in fine art, I designed ten different floral pieces, each carefully selected to match the personality and traits of the groomsmen wearing them. Every bow tie was custom-made, unique to the individual, and carried a special significance for each person involved.

The end result was more than just a bow tie; it was a wearable piece of art, handcrafted from rare, exotic wood and infused with personal meaning. These bow ties became conversation starters at the wedding, and the positive response showed me that there was something truly special about these creations.
